Orrery Lane is operated by Worldunities LLC, Florida, USA. We built it to need as little of your data as possible.

The short version

• Your birth date, time and place are processed in your browser. The free chart does not send them to us.
• If you buy the Reading, your birth details travel to Stripe, in an encoded form attached to your payment, so your Reading can be rebuilt after payment. That is the only time they leave your browser.
• No analytics, no advertising or tracking cookies, no third-party scripts, no accounts.
• This site is for adults. You must be 18 or older.

What stays in your browser

The chart is calculated by code running on your device. The list of places you search is a file served from this site, not a lookup service, so what you type in the place box is never sent anywhere. Before you leave for checkout we save your encoded birth details in your browser's local storage on your own device, so we can restore your Reading if Stripe's reference is missing. You can clear it any time by clearing site data in your browser. Your look-back answers (Yes, Somewhat, Not really), the private notes you write in the Reading and on the daily card, your Fits or Doesn't fit marks and your chosen time zone are saved there too and never leave your browser. The free daily card (/today) opens from your saved details or from a link that carries them after a # sign; the part of a link after the # is not sent to any server, and the card is computed in your browser. If you bookmark or share that link, the birth details in it go wherever the link goes, so share it only with people you trust. We do not use cookies.

What goes to Stripe, and what we receive

When you choose to buy, you are sent to a Stripe-hosted checkout page. We attach a short encoded reference (the birth moment in UTC, the UTC offset used, a place identifier and rounded coordinates) to your payment. Stripe collects your email address, card details and any billing information under its own privacy policy. We can see in our Stripe account the payment amount, time, your email address and the encoded reference. We use these only to provide the Reading, to answer support requests, to issue refunds, and to meet legal and accounting obligations.

Our server

This site is hosted on Cloudflare. After payment, a small piece of server code asks Stripe whether your checkout session is genuinely paid and, if so, returns the encoded reference to your browser, which builds the Reading. We do not store your birth details on our servers and do not keep logs of them. Cloudflare, like any host, processes ordinary technical data such as your IP address to deliver the site; see Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Retention

We keep no birth-data database. Payment records remain in Stripe for as long as Stripe and the law require. Emails you send us are kept as long as needed to help you and for our records.

Your choices and rights

You may ask us what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, by writing to nearmiss1193@gmail.com. We can delete our email correspondence with you and, where Stripe allows, request deletion of your data there; Stripe may need to keep transaction records for legal reasons. Depending on where you live (for example California or the European Economic Area), you may have additional rights, and we will honor them where they apply. We do not sell or share your data for advertising.

Birth details are personal

Your birth details are personal information even though we do not treat them as health information. Please do not enter anyone else's details without their permission.

Children

Orrery Lane is not for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If we change how we handle data, we will update this page and its date. We will not start using analytics or advertising trackers without changing this policy first.
